Complete Quantum Coherent Control of Ultracold Molecular Collisions

نویسندگان

چکیده

We show that quantum interference-based coherent control is a highly efficient tool for tuning ultracold molecular collision dynamics, and free from the limitations of commonly used methods rely on external electromagnetic fields. By varying {the relative populations and} phases an initial superpositions degenerate states, we demonstrate complete over integral scattering cross sections in $s$-wave regime both final channels. The proposed methodology applied to O$_2$~+~O$_2$ collisions, showing extensive spin-exchange product branching ratios many orders magnitude.

Coherent Control of Ultracold Collisions with Chirped Light: Direction Matters

We demonstrate the ability to coherently control ultracold atomic Rb collisions using frequencychirped light on the nanosecond time scale. For certain center frequencies of the chirp, the rate of inelastic trap-loss collisions induced by negatively chirped light is dramatically suppressed compared to the case of a positive chirp. We attribute this to a fundamental asymmetry in the system: an ex...

Coherent control of ultracold photoassociation.

1. INTRODUCTION Photoassociation, forming molecules from ultracold atoms using laser light, is a prime example of coherent control: The process is complex and poses many challenges, yet typically the molecular structure is simple enough to identify pathways for control. Laser cooling schemes that work for atoms 1−5 tend to fail for molecules, mainly due to the presence of many near-resonance li...

Quantum dynamics of ultracold Na+ Na2 collisions.

Ultracold collisions between spin-polarized Na atoms and vibrationally excited Na2 molecules are investigated theoretically, using a reactive scattering formalism (including atom exchange). Calculations are carried out on both pairwise additive and nonadditive potential energy surfaces for the quartet electronic state. The Wigner threshold laws are followed for energies below 10(-5) K. Vibratio...

Coherent Control of Quantum Entropy via Quantum Interference in a Four-Level Atomic System

The time evaluation of quantum entropy in a four-level double- type atomic system is theoretically investigated. Quantum entanglement of the atom and its spontaneous emission fields is then discussed via quantum entropy. It is found that the degree of entanglement can be increased by the quantum interference induced by spontaneous emission. The phase dependence of the atom-field entanglement is...

Rotational Feshbach resonances in ultracold molecular collisions.

In collisions at ultralow temperatures, molecules will possess Feshbach resonances, foreign to ultracold atoms, whose virtual excited states consist of rotations of the molecules. We estimate the mean spacing and mean widths of these resonant states, exploiting the fact the molecular collisions at low energy display chaotic motion. As examples, we consider the experimentally relevant molecules ...
